Our story · 2016 — today
The FINE Story.
How a single jar in a Berlin kitchen became a brand people once queued on the waiting list for — and which to this day makes no compromises.
Origin
It all began with a single product.
Berlin, June 2016: Judith Springer creates the first FINE deodorant — Vetiver Geranium. Just one month later, the first batch is completely sold out. It takes months for production to keep up with the astronomical demand.
The brand grows out of a passion for health, scent and aesthetics — with the ambition to create a deodorant that works, smells good and looks beautiful.
Before Judith created FINE, she spent over ten years working as a curator of contemporary art. Her deep understanding of symmetry, aesthetics and composition has flowed into every decision — always based on a clear understanding of maximum sustainability.
Since then, FINE has grown: new scent directions, further formats and selected body care products were added. The ambition remained.
Essence
FINE is the expression of the conviction that true beauty arises from purity, aesthetics and responsibility.
Judith's experience as a curator of contemporary art shapes every detail: the interplay of form and symmetry, the awareness of material and composition.
So it was clear early on: packaging must be not only sustainable but also sensual. Glass carries weight and dignity. Bakelite lids sound rich and sit firmly in the hand. The coloured folding boxes reflect the diversity of human existence, while the glossy embossing celebrates individuality.
FINE is unisex — created for people beyond categories. Each piece of packaging is more than a shell: it is a mirror of your own essence, a symbol of individuality and freedom.
Ten Years of FINE
A decade defined by natural efficacy.
Since 2016 we've accompanied people on their way to a different care routine — away from the chemical standard, towards performance without compromise. What began as a bold idea in a Berlin kitchen has long become a certainty for our community: for many, FINE is the last deodorant decision they ever had to make.
Purity and efficacy are not opposites — we've proven that again and again over the past ten years. Our formulas are so pure that the line between cosmetics and food almost blurs.
(We still don't recommend eating it. But your skin will love the taste.)
Berlin — FINE is born
Judith Springer creates the first FINE deodorant in her kitchen: Vetiver Geranium. Beautifully packaged, she delivers it by bike to her favourite shops — Andreas Murkudis, MDC and others. The first 500 units sell out within a month. Waiting lists that don't grow shorter for months. Barely back in stock, FINE sells 3,000 times in a single month.
Brigitte & Süddeutsche — the first boost
An early feature in Brigitte, shortly followed by a half-page interview in the Süddeutsche Zeitung: demand explodes, FINE has firmly arrived in the German beauty public. Enquiries come from all over the world.
Taking off — literally
FINE makes it into the onboard range of Lufthansa, Swiss and other airlines. A new packaging format is created specially for it: the tube. It carries FINE all over the world — and the development of new scents begins.
Cedar Bergamot — the second scent
Woody, citrus, unisex. With Cedar Bergamot, FINE grows from a single product into a line — and shows that being natural means no compromises on scent.
FINE goes global
Saks Fifth Avenue in New York adds the Berlin deodorant to its range — the starting signal for boutiques and selected retailers worldwide. At the same time, Senza is introduced: the deodorant cream for especially sensitive skin.
Facial care, masks & collaborations
A face mask, eye mask and eye serum are added. For the mask brush, a collaboration with Jacks Beauty is created — quality from a single source. Further collaborations follow, including with UndGretel, Namari Skin and Twelve Beauty.
Body Serums & Perfume Oils
Three body serums and perfume-oil roll-ons in the familiar scent notes round off the range. FINE becomes a complete care routine.
2016
Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Grazia
The big titles are discovering FINE — and confirm again and again: natural cosmetics can be high-quality and highly effective at once. No paid placements, only genuine conviction. Plus appearances at Esxence, the Natural Beauty Expo London and the Grazia Beauty Weekend Munich.
Roll-on & Minty Something
After long development: a liquid roll-on deodorant, also suitable for baking-soda-sensitive skin — highly effective, no residue. Plus the Minty Something deodorant stick in zero-waste packaging, whose first batch is released as a collaboration with beauty blogger Hanna Schumi (Foxycheeks).
A decade of FINE — and a new chapter
Judith hands FINE over to David, who develops the brand further with the same uncompromising standard. A European vision — FINE has by no means said its last word...
New partners, new expertise
FINE expands its production base with ecologically certified manufacturers in Austria — and develops new formulas with the expertise of Swiss specialists. Shipping returns in-house.
The Promise
FINE is not just a product, but a promise: that natural cosmetics highly effective can be, when you make no compromises.
Since 2016 — and far from finished.
